About The Author
As a Scientific Illustrator, I love relating scientific concepts to the public in a way which makes them more accessible. My illustrations have been published in multiple academic journals, including NCBI and PNAS, with more publications on the way! In 2020, I received my Bachelors of Science in Medical Illustration from the Ohio State University. Since that time, I have traveled quite a bit- first to Boston MA, where I worked as a teacher, in museums, farms, and an animatronic dinosaur theme park. From there, I moved out west and began my journey with field-guiding and outdoor education. Presently, I reside in Moab UT, where I work as a backcountry field guide, and continue to grow my small business in scientific illustration.
I have had the pleasure of working on several projects in the past year, including illustrations for the Moab Museum U92 Exhibit, and an illustrated Field Guide to the Flora, Fauna and Geology of the Moab area with Navtec Expiditions. Currently, the museum exhibit is on display in the mineral case. The book, created with Navtec, is used on tours as an outreach tool to the parks. I also create maps of the Moab area and surrounding parks, which you may find floating around town.
In addition, I am so excited to share my long time project on the Periodic Spiral of Elements this fall. I began this work in Boston, MA while working at the Harvard Natural History Museum mineral hall. After years of experimenting with graphing chemical formulas on the spiral graph, I am excited to talk about the method and function at the upcoming Moab Science Festival happening on September 17th! I have also illustrated a “Field Guide to Molecules” using the PSE, which I hope to publish in the upcoming years.
